Process

How an application works

We assess individual grant applications on behalf of Universal Grant Income. Here is exactly what happens from the moment you submit the form, and what we will never ask you for.

  1. Stage 1

    You submit an application

The form collects only what we need to open a file: name, email, country and a description of the cost you need covered. We do not ask for banking details, identity documents or payment at this stage.

  2. Stage 2

    Automatic confirmation email

As soon as the form is submitted, an automated email goes to the address you provided with your reference code. It confirms we received your application and that it is queued for assessment — it is not a decision. If you do not see it, check your spam folder before resubmitting.

  3. Stage 3

    Eligibility screening and evidence

An assessment officer checks your application against the published criteria — age, residency, income band and eligible purpose — usually within 5 to 10 business days. If it passes screening, we request supporting documents through a secure link sent from our own domain.

  4. Stage 4

    Written decision

We email you the outcome either way, typically within 4 to 6 weeks of a complete application. An award letter states the amount, what it covers and how it will be paid. A decline states the criterion it fell short of and how to ask for a review.

  5. Stage 5

    Payment

Once you accept a written award, payment is issued 5 to 10 working days later — to an account in your own legal name, or direct to the supplier named on the invoice. Never in exchange for a payment to us.

Timescales

Eligibility screening usually takes 5 to 10 business days, and a full assessment 4 to 6 weeks from the point your application is complete. Applications waiting on documents or a third-party confirmation take longer. We will always tell you if yours needs more time.
